About Debby
When Debby Lewis bought her Howick home in 1983, the first thing she did was dig up the front lawn to plant a cottage garden. This garden remains her abiding passion and she claims she’s never done any housework since!
Auckland born and bred, Debby has two adult children and enjoys being Nan to 4 grandchildren.
She has visited some great gardens including Sissinghurst in Kent, Kew Gardens in London, Wisley in Surrey and a recent trip to Monet's Garden in Giverny and is taking off again this May to visit the famed kitchen gardens at West Dean in Sussex, the Chelsea Physic Garden in London, Sissinghurst and some Welsh and Italian gardens. Subscriptions to several leading international gardening magazines also keep the avid gardener up to date with global trends.
Although she started her garden consulting business 18 years ago, Debby never tires of gardens and gardening. Her favourite way to spend a day is pottering” in her own patch. She is always inspired by a blank canvas to design a new garden or remodel an established area.
Her plant knowledge is extensive and the style of gardens Debby designs vary from the formal Italian style through to the rambling cottage garden.
